This policy is designed to outline what personal data I collect, how this is responsibly stored and why.
Personal Data
When making enquiries to Dempsey Lengden Counselling Services either by phone, email, online or in person, I may collect personal data which is held for the minimum legal requirement.
How it’s Stored
Any information that you supply to me directly via telephone, email or in person, is stored online on my case management system and I am the only person who has access to this information using secure passwords.
All steps are taken to ensure information remains private including password protections, zoom meetings locked and malware and virus protection installed.
Why do you keep my information?
I am required to keep any personal data information for the minimum time as a legal requirement. This information is also required for contact regarding our sessions. I will ask for you to provide your GP information and next of kin contact name and number for safeguarding requirements. Please feel free I ask me about this and I will be happy to provide examples and an explanation of why this information is useful and relevant to the counselling process.

DATA PROTECTION COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE
This section explains what to do if you would like to make a complaint about the way your data has been handled.
I am committed to protecting your personal data and handling it with transparency, care and respect. If you have any concerns about how your information has been collected, used, stored or shared, I encourage you to raise this concern with me as soon as possible.
You can do this by contacting me directly, outlining your concern in as much detail as you feel comfortable with providing. I will acknowledge your complaint within 14 days and aim to investigate and respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with the response, you have the right to escalate your concerns to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).
