WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT
PROCESSING EXPERIENCES
GAINING A NEW PERSPECTIVE
FEELING MORE IN CONTROL
Everyone who comes to counselling will have different life experiences and as result they will have different aims and outcomes that they want to achieve. That is why I always ask you what is important for you to acheive through our sessions and I regularly check in with you to make sure you are getting the most out of our sessions.
I offer counselling for adults who may need some support to process past experiences and trauma, explore and change negative thinking patterns, positively change behaviours and develop tools that will continue to support you when you leave the counselling room, clients often find this to be one of the main benefits of counselling.
Counselling can help you to think about things from a different perspective by identifying things that are causing you distress, challenging old beliefs about yourself and the world, finding ways of coping under pressure and remove the barriers so that you can lead a more fulfilled life with the freedom to be yourself.
Above all, the benefits of counselling can result in you feeling more in control of your life, support you with developing new skills, building resilience to cope with life’s challenges and build a healthy relationship with yourself and others which will help you to feel more empowered to overcome obstacles you might face currently and in the future.
People seek counselling for many different reasons.
You might want to work on specific issues and have goals in mind that you would like to work on for example; Anxiety, Stress or feeling burnt out or overwhelmed, managing your emotions such as anger or sadness, improving self-esteem and confidence.
If this is you, we can absolutely talk about the impact of these things and first work on exploring and understanding the challenges you are facing, then look at how to help you to move forward so you can start to feel better and more in control of your life.
However, some people come to counselling and they don’t know where to start, all they know is that they feel overwhelmed or stuck and don’t know how to move forward. If this is you, then we can explore this in more depth and figure it out together so that you have more clarity.
I honestly believe that having an hour to focus on yourself on a regular basis, in a safe and confidential space where you can say things out loud that you might not have said before and just be yourself without judgement is key to acceptance and growth and sometimes, all people need is a supportive individual to listen and understand them.
Counselling gives you space to organise your thoughts, feelings, needs and priorities, and helps you to learn how to accept things that cannot be changed which might help you with making decisions and finding effective ways of coping with the struggles of life.
